Monte Cristo Hotel, 1507 Wall Street (1925)
National Register of Historic Places
When the new Monte Cristo Hotel opened at Wall Street and Hoyt Avenue in 1925, it was Everett’s largest and finest hostelry. The architect was Henry Bittman. The hotel remained a focal point in town until it closed its doors in 1971. It languished for over two decades vacant and mired in litigation and a host of other problems. It had a gala reopening in 1994. The upper floors served as housing while a restaurant and the county arts council ran a gallery, gift shop and ballroom rental hall.
