Widgren House, 2125 Virginia Avenue (ca. 1910) Everett Register Axel T. Widgren was a cabinetmaker with a store on Hewitt Ave. The exact plans for the house, designed by architect G.W. Ashby, have been found in Radford American Homes, a book of house plans dated 1903. This home was built in the Arts and Crafts style, which emphasizes building in native woods and stone. The expansive porch and dramatic roofline display some of the basic characteristics of the Arts and Crafts style, and the original interior woodwork offers further evidence of the period. The prominent river rock porch and chimney, and the asymmetric gambrel roofline make this distinctive house unique in Everett. The Widgren family lived in the house until 1932 when it was sold to Andrew L. Fredrickson, president of Moon and Reep Grocery on Hewitt Ave. There was a series of owners until Everett Hurd purchased the home in 1946 and converted it into a duplex. The building functioned as a duplex or triplex until 1999, when the present owner began restoring the home to a single-family residence.
