21. Star Theater, 1810 Hewitt Avenue

Star Theater, 1810 Hewitt Avenue (1909) An original mosaic tilework entryway greeted guests of Everett’s first building built as a movie house. Investor W.G. Swalwell, leased it to Alexander Singelow, an early newsreel cameraman in the region. Singelow operated a movie theatre until 1927, when it was converted to a Castle Drugs which served into the 1940s. Occupied by Granstrom Sporting Goods from 1955 to 1971.
